The above ‘buzz’ words are used very often now, but do you know what they actually mean?
Below is a quick guide to help you out.
In essence, they are basically describing how a product is grown, (in terms of fertilizers, pesticides etc), how it is made & how the people who made it are treated.
It is important to know that often times the quality & taste of organic, eco-friendly & fairtrade products is better, or at least, the same, as the conventional products you may be using now. However, they are better for your health, the environment and social & animal welfare. So it makes sense to make the switch today!
Useful Definitions:
Organic - Grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers.
Biodynamic - An enhanced organic method using specialized preparations & composting.
Eco-friendly - Made from non-toxic, recycled / recyclable, biodegradable, sustainable & re-usable materials.
Fairtrade - Products purchased at a fair price allowing growers / producers in developing countries to meet their basic requirements for shelter, food, medical treatment, education & community development.
